What to expect during the first visit
The first visit with a new patient entails a full series of exams and an extensive consultation to assess their condition and determine an appropriate treatment plan.
Dr. McCall conducts a thorough physical exam, a full neurologic exam, a complete motion palpation, gait analysis, and chiropractic or acupuncture exam with every new patient. This is essential to gather the baseline data that will form the benchmark against which future patient progress will be measured. The process of goal setting is an important part of the initial visit, particularly for patients that are recovering from an injury or surgery and for whom rehabilitation exercises will be prescribed.
With client consent, Dr. McCall will include a photograph and/or a video of a patient in their medical file. This provides valuable information regarding changes in movement patterns or patient progress when viewed retrospectively
Upon completion of the initial visit, the owner receives a written report that describes the exam findings, the treatment plan, and reiterates the goals for the patient as discussed during the visit. Medications, herbs, and exercises may be prescribed at this time also.
The average time for an initial consult is one and a half hours. This ensures that all exams and treatment can be completed, referrals can be made if necessary, and all questions can be fully answered. Subsequent appointments are generally shorter.
