At Home Euthanasia

Deciding when to say goodbye to a cherished companion or a devoted family member can be a heart wrenching decision. It can be difficult to know when “it’s time”, and how to evaluate quality of life for our animals. Dr. McCall is trained to assess the physical and psychological condition of patients for whom euthanasia is a consideration, and is experienced in assisting people during what can be a difficult decision making process. Upon request she can conduct a preliminary exam and euthanasia consult as a separate home visit for these patients. Dr. McCall complies with the criteria for euthanasia as set forth by the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. Wishes of the owner are respected and the animal’s comfort ensured. Upon your request we will direct you to a local artist who can create a poignant memoriam for you from a lock of your horse’s hair, or from your pet’s paw print.
